Dr Susie Stephens joined Eli Lilly in early 2007 as a Principal Research Scientist for Open Innovation. Her role involves transitioning discovery informatics from being internally focused to embracing open innovation, thereby enabling a more rapid uptake of new ideas and capability to enhance the project portfolio.
She is also designing an open innovation center for pre-competitive collaborations across the pharmaceutical industry. Previously, Dr Stephens worked for Oracle where she created and guided the implementation of their product development strategy for the database for life sciences. Enhancements were made in areas such as data integration, support of complex data types, data mining, and graph analytics.
Prior to joining Oracle, she was Global Life Sciences Market Segment Manager at Sun Microsystems. Dr Stephens is Co-chair of the W3C Semantic Web for Health Care and Life Sciences Interest Group. She is a well known speaker at conferences, and has published over 30 industry papers. Dr. Stephens has a Ph.D. in physiology.
